The Charlottesville Friends of Old Time Music is a volunteer organization whose goal is to share and propagate traditional American old-time string music through performance, teaching and community jam sessions. The organization has grown from a longstanding informal group of amateur players who have held regular jam sessions since 1974. Our goals include charitable performances and educational outreach.

The Charlottesville Tune School (C-Tunes) is a new organization dedicated to involving participants of all ages in the living musical heritage of old-time string music and related traditional arts, through classes, workshops, jam sessions, and performances, in a supportive and social atmosphere. C-Tunes offers private music lessons and monthly educational tune-learning sessions as well as monthly workshops with local and regional artists. We offer outreach to the community in the form of performances at local organizations, sponsor a summer camp, and promote local music activities and concerts.

The Charlottesville Classical Guitar Society was founded in 1993 as a non-profit, educational organization whose purpose is to foster interest in the Classical Guitar. Funds that are raised through member concerts, dues, sponsors, and donations enable CCGS to bring a fine arts concert series to Charlottesville featuring the world’s foremost guitarists and lutenists. Additional activities include guitar master classes, quarterly meetings/events, monthly performances on the third Saturday of each month at C’Ville Coffee in Charlottesville starting at 7:00PM and performances to benefit local charitable organizations.
